Mission summary:

“In May 1942, British Intelligence sent a small patrol of the elite ‘Special Boat Service’ [forerunners of the SAS] to reconnoitre the Islands around Rabaul which were under Japanese occupation. The Allies were seeking information about a small force of specialist Japanese scientists who had arrived in the Islands. With its close proximity to Papa New Guinea and Australia; the Allies needed to know what was going on. Lt. Commander Ross Dawson and ten men in a new ‘Higgins’s’ landing craft set out for the Islands. What happened on that secret mission brought Jericho Tibbs and Team 74 quickly on scene.”
